Christian’s practice comprises commercial, media, IP, property, insolvency, and consumer credit.
Since being called to the Bar, Christian has acquired extensive advocacy experience having regularly appeared in the County Court and High Court in trials, appeals, injunctions, judicial review hearings, winding-up petitions, interlocutory applications, allocation hearings, and CMCs. Christian has also regularly been instructed to appear on behalf of the Home Office in appeals before the First Tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber).
As well as legal and advocacy experience, Christian brings substantial industry and commercial experience, having come to the Bar following a successful career in the digital media industry. Over a ten year period, Christian helped brands to realise their business and communications objectives through creative branding, media-marketing and technology solutions. He developed his role from project/account management to strategy & consultancy and departmental/divisional management within several organisations, including the WPP Group.
Christian has worked with start-ups, SMEs, and blue-chip brands from across industries, liaising with clients at every level of an organisation, up to board level. His clients have included American Express, Avis, B&Q, Boots, BT, Cancer Research, Dixons, ECIA, Healey & Baker (Cushman & Wakefield), ICI, Ladbrokes, Lloyds TSB, Logica, MTV, Microsoft, Optus, RBS, Sainsbury’s, Shell, Sky, Sony, and Virgin.
Throughout his industry career, Christian regularly addressed legally-related issues within a commercial context, including negotiating terms of business, developing supplier/partnership agreements and service level agreements, software and media licensing, online data protection, and brand/trade mark protection in the digital space.
Prior to joining Chambers, Christian developed his commercial, media and intellectual property experience at a firm of solicitors. Working for specialist firm Hansel Henson LLP, Christian engaged a range of contentious and non-contentious areas of work, including commercial litigation in media-related disputes; drafting pleadings and witness statements; reviewing and drafting media contracts, merchandising agreements, licence agreements and data protection policies; assisting with trade mark searches and registrations; drafting undertakings in relation to trade mark and copyright infringements, passing off and a Protected Designation of Origin.
